JETS Kanishka deSilva receives NASA’s Exceptional Public Service Medal












HOUSTON, TX —Kanishka deSilva, a Project Manager on the JSC Engineering Technology

and Science (JETS) contract at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, was the recent

recipient of NASA’s prestigious Exceptional Public Service Medal.


The medal is awarded to any non-Government individual or to an individual who was not a

Government employee during the period in which the service was performed for sustained

performance that embodies multiple contributions on NASA projects, programs, or initiatives.

“It’s a great honor to receive this prestigious award,” said deSilva. “It feels great to be

recognized for all the hard work that I have put in to the NASA space program.


“I would like to thank my family for supporting me throughout these years, my incredible talented

team, that has done an excellent job and consistently performing above and beyond my

expectations, and everyone who has supported me during the last 23 years.”


Kanishka and his wife, Shehani, live in Houston with their two teenage sons, Avin and Anuk.
